The Science Behind the HCG Diet!
The use of HCG Diet injections in the treatment of obesity was first discovered by the late British Physician, Dr. A. T. W. Simeons.
Dr. Simeons first published a report on the topic in 1954, while practicing in Rome, Italy. He devoted years to researching various patients suffering from obesity. During this time, Simeons noticed several important factors including the lack of symptoms one would expect from a patient on a very low calorie diet. For example, his patients had no headaches, hunger pains, weakness, or irritability as long as the low calorie diet was combined with HCG. Dr. Simeons HCG diet is simple in nature.
The HCG basic diet consists of an HCG shot and a total of 500 calories a day. The most successful people average about 1 lb of weight loss per day. Although there is controversy on health issues consuming such a small amount of food and losing that much weight so quickly, itis completely safe as you are finally using your fat stores.
While taking the shots the HGC breaks up and mobilizes the fat pockets on your body and burns that fat for energy. Because you maintain a low 500 calorie diet and have zero fat intake, you keep your body at minimum food production and this forces your body to burn the fat pockets instead for energy. Therefore, the fat burning process combined with the water amount you drink creates the energy levels you experience during the process
HCG is not some artificial appetite suppressant. It is Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a peptide hormone naturally produced by the body in pregnancy. However, it does more than that. HCG also enables the body to access all of the mother’s stored fat supply and give the developing fetus a constant nutrient supply. This explains how women who are undernourished still have healthy babies despite getting very little food.
HCG helps the body mobilize and burn its fat stores, no matter where they are stored–and it works that way in men and women, pregnant or not. That is the key to the HCG diet.
To understand why the HCG diet works so well (and why other diet methods nearly always fail) we have to understand the difference between the various types of fat in the body and we must also know how to best target
the unwanted type.
How does HCG Work?
Most calorie counters know that one pound of fat is equivalent to 3,500 calories. Jogging one mile burns about 100 calories. If you’re 50 pounds overweight, you need to jog from San Francisco to Dallas (1,750 miles) to mathematically burn 50 pounds. However, if weight were lost that easily, many more Americans would be jogging from coast to coast.
Many Americans work out regularly and burn the calories but can’t seem to lose the weight. The reason why? They are burning the wrong calories.
To explain, there are three types of fats in the human body:
Normal reserves: the body draws upon this fat when nutritional intake is less than what the body demands.
Abnormal fat: abnormal and excessive accumulations are fixed deposits of fats throughout the body and cause obesity. The body is unable to draw on this fat in emergencies.
When exercising or restricting food intake, the body relies on and consumes the normal fat reserves. The body cannot access the abnormal fat accumulations. The use of the HCG hormone releases abnormal fat deposits and makes the fat available for consumption by the body.
Patients on our HCG program lose about one pound per day. Because the HCG hormone makes the abnormal fat available, the body begins living off the fat – the fat provides a source of energy, just as food does. Patients are instructed to reduce food to 500 calories per day, however, hunger is not noticed because 3,500 additional calories are consumed each day by the body. The results: patients lose about one pound per day while using the HCG hormone.
Do I Need to Exercise While I’m on the HCG Diet?
Light exercise is recommended, but not required. Our suggestion for those who want to exercise is that you walk for 20 to 30 minutes each day. Walking is great exercise and contributes to your health in a number of different ways. It helps relieve stress, keeps the bowels moving, conditions your cardiovascular system, and promotes better blood/oxygen circulation. On a 500 calorie diet, intense exercise can make you exhausted, which in turn, can just cause frustration and unnecessary stress. When you are are finished with the HCG diet regimen and are back on a regular diet you can then pick up the intensity of your regular exercise routines.
HCG Diet & Vegetarian:
The diet does, however, present some challenges for some, especially vegetarians when presented with the different protein foods approved in the diet. It’s hard to find alternatives to meat. The diet is not vegetarian-friendly but there ARE options, and the diet CAN be successfully done by vegetarians.
HCG Diet Approved Foods:
All visible fat must be carefully removed before cooking and meat must be weight raw.

How HCG Works to Burn Fat:
Even though clients reduce “actual” food intake to 500 calories per day, hunger is not noticed because 3,500 additional calories are consumed each day by the body by using abnormal fat stores as fuel, and our HCG formulation curbs the appetite, reducing hunger pangs. How long can I take hCG?
You can take it up to 40 days and as few as 23, but you must then take a break for however many days you were on the drops before you start another session. This is to make sure your body doesn’t become immune to the HCG. You may need two bottles to go a full 40-day round.
How much weight can I expect to lose on the program?
On average, women lose 15 to 20 pounds per month and men lose about 20 to 30 pounds per month. Some people lose as many as 10 to 12 pounds the first week, but the average is 5 to 7 pounds or a pound a day.
Does the weight loss slow down?
Often a large amount of weight is lost in the first month, and then the actual pounds seen on the scale decreases in a more gradual, fashion. Both pounds and inches are continuously lost while on the program, and after a period of time most people experience another large drop on the scale, in clothes size, or both.
Is HCG safe for men?
HCG is found in the tissue of both fetus (of either gender) and mother during pregnancy. Dr. Simeons actually developed the HCG diet for obese boys, and men get even faster results and tend to lose more weight than women on the program.
What if I am taking medications?
Always talk to your prescribing doctor before starting a weight-loss program or before stopping medications. In general, HCG does not interact with any medications, including the pill and birth control injections; however, people on hormone replacement therapy, steroids, seizure medications. Always, talk to your prescribing doctor before beginning any weight-loss program.
If HCG works so well for weight loss, why don’t pregnant women lose weight?
Actually, they can. It is during pregnancy that a woman can most easily lose weight without danger to herself or her child. HCG works to mobilize fat for utilization by the body in case there is a significant decrease in calories and fat, as often happens during the first trimester for those suffering from severe morning sickness. Pregnant women very rarely become obese, but to lose weight a starvation state must exist. For weight loss on the HCG protocol, a very low-calorie diet helps trigger HCG, which in turn tells the body to begin consuming abnormal fat deposits.
What if I become pregnant?
First of all, congratulations!
The HCG diet is not for pregnant women, and you should stop the program and consult your physician if you become pregnant while on it.
Is it OK to skip a meal or protein at one of my meals?
No. For the diet to be effective, it’s important to eat all 500 calories each day, and especially protein to prevent muscle loss.
Can you split up your fruits and eat them when you want?
You get two fruits each day and can eat them for breakfast or as a snack, but not together.
Will a1 bottle be enough for a full round?
For most people, 2 ounces bottle of drops or 1 bottle of 480 pellets is enough for either the minimum 23 days or for the full 40-day program. It just depends on how accurate you count your drops or pellets.
Is it normal to get headaches during the first week?
Light headaches during the first week are common because your body is releasing fat cells very rapidly and you will be going through a major detox. Take aspirin or Tylenol as long as they’re not sugar coated.
Can I drink alcohol on the HCG diet?
It is not recommended, and not part of your low calorie intake plan. The original HCG diet protocol by does not mention alcohol, but some participants who are borderline alcoholic do surprisingly well on the HCG diet, which can get them out of a drinking routine. Some have said they feel a decreased need to drink.
Why is HCG called the weight-loss “cure”?
HCG is called a “cure” by some because it “reprograms” your body to use stored abnormal fat for energy when calories are reduced for a period of time. It helps you maintain your new weight, rather than regaining the pounds you lost.
